Snowflakes

Although I sit on this beach

In the middle

Of June

I live

In the middle

Of a deep winter

That came

When you left.

“Gone is gone”

I scrawl

In the snow

With frostbitten fingers

But your shadow

Still lingers.

How can

The warmth

Of the summer sun

Compare to

The cold comfort

Of memories of you?

Each one

A precious snowflake

Shimmering glimmers

Of what once was

Before the winter.
