The day has passed

Night grows near

Thoughts pulse through me

With electrified intensity

Sparking a reverie –

I ponder

The strange convergence

Of lightness and darkness

That bends and warps

My fragile existence

I wonder

What universal forces

Chance? Fate? Free will?

Hold me here

As I behold

This burning, fading sunset

Its fiery rays and the inky sky

Do not reply

To my white-hot curiosity

So I smolder quietly

In shades of twilight

Consumed by

The mystery of why.
