Nearly dead

We live

On the remembered warmth

Of past seasons

Restlessly waiting

In winter’s white stillness

For the return

Of green renewal

When we will thrive

In the growing light

Once more

And hear

The nightingales’ evening songs

As we did together

Many springs before.

    1. Thank you for your feedback, AB. I am glad that you liked my poem. I remembered telling you about the beautiful songs of the birds that come to my backyard during the warmer months of the year, and that memory found its way into the last few lines of this poem.

I look forward to reading more of your wonderful poetry, my thoughtful friend. 🙂
