Pomegranate Blossoms

pomegranate blossoms, Sacramento, California

I took this photo this afternoon. I did a little research and discovered that the pomegranate is a fruit tree that literally has ancient roots. According to Wikipedia, it was thought to have originated in the area that is now modern-day Iran, and it was grown “throughout the Mediterranean region and northern India.” Pomegranates were brought to California by Spanish settlers who introduced them here in 1769.
