stairs covered in ivy

Footsteps echo
My heart lifts
As I ascend
Forgotten stairs
What you meant
And mean to me
I had to come back
There’s still time
To save us
To remove the dust
From long shelved dreams
And start again.

    1. Thanks, Ralph. 🙂 I missed writing poetry for the blog. I feel behind on everything because of what happened last month, but I am glad that I left that job. There have been no unpleasant surprises so far, but the year has only just begun. 🙂

I appreciate your comments and your support. I hope your year is off to a good start as well, my friend. 🙂

      1. No worries about being behind my friend. After what you have gone through it’s very understandable. I’m so pleased that 2016 has been good to you. May it go on indefinitely !

I’m fine. A quiet week in the village as it has been a lot cooler and raining on and off.

I hope that this week will find you a new position Arlene. 😀 ❤

        1. Thanks, Ralph. 🙂 I hope the goodness lasts too! 🙂 I am glad that you are well. It has been cool, foggy, and rainy here in Sacramento. The sun comes out for short periods of time in between the storms. We do need the rain. One thing that I like about the clouds and the rain is that it moderates the temperature, so the evening temperature has not dipped below freezing for the past week or so.

Thanks for the good wishes about the job hunt. While I do want to find another job, I also want to be careful to find good people to work for so that I won’t end up in trouble. Take care, Ralph. 🙂

          1. Hi Arlene 😀
The weather is exactly the same here and we both could do with a few days of decent rain. It’s more like autumn than winter.
Hopefully you will find a decent job with decent employers. Good luck in job hunting my friend 😀 ❤

          2. Yes, the rain will definitely help the drought situations we face. Today we are actually going to have a warm day here in Sacramento, and then the rain will return tonight and tomorrow.

Thanks for the good wishes for the job hunt, Ralph. 🙂 Finding a decent job and decent employers has not been easy. I turned down a few job offers because the terms and conditions were unacceptable. I am doing some freelance work for someone now, and I hope it works out.

Recently, there was an update about the nonprofit that I worked for on the local news. According to the news story, the FBI investigation has expanded to several other states and three other countries. In addition, the company is being investigated for “mail fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to defraud undocumented immigrants.” In case you or anyone else wants to see the story, here is a link:

I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, Ralph. Take care. 🙂

          3. Thanks for sending the link Arlene. I did watch the report. Weird guy your ex-boss, isn’t he ? Oh well, you are out of it now. Good for you. Freelance may be the way to go. At least that way you’ll have no boss problems.
Have a lovely day my friend 😀 ❤

          4. You are welcome, Ralph. 🙂 Yes, some of his behavior is strange. I do not think he did himself any favors with the interviews he gave to the reporter. He seemed more nervous and angry in the latest report. I did not work very closely with him. I occasionally saw him once in awhile. I remember my former project manager getting frustrated that he could not get much feedback from him or the former office manager about the content of the company websites. Now we know why. He probably did not want the public knowing he was charging thousands of dollars for the adult adoptions. I checked the Americans Helping America website after I saw the news story, and my ex-boss posted six YouTube videos in response to the KCRA reports. I do not know how many people will bother to watch them. I did not. Yes, I am glad that I am gone from there. I do not think that place will stay open for business too much longer, especially if they find more evidence of fraud.

We will see how the freelance work goes. It is always hard at first when you work with a new client. You are not sure about them, and they are not sure about you. However, I am glad that I get to work from home, and I can be more selective about the people I work for as a freelancer.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your week, my friend. Thanks for your concern about me. 🙂

  1. Your poetic words match the pic perfectly, Arlene.
It’s a long haul for sure, “going back” to get ahead,
and the dust of Time is incredibly thick. Good luck!

And best wishes. 🙂 Peace and luvz, UT

    1. Thank you for your thoughtful comment and good wishes, Uncle Tree. Best wishes to you as well. 🙂

Yes, life does indeed make us run around in circles, but hopefully the backtracking will ultimately lead to an upward spiral of higher understanding.

I agree that we are at the mercy of time. We have very little control over it, and it is strange to think that there are centuries of the past that occurred before we were born and centuries of the future we will never experience once we die. However, even though I have no tangible proof of its existence, I keep thinking there is a time outside of our limited sense of time here on earth where there is clarity and stillness.
